WEB28 Dec 2019 #2. Just a splitter will give you the same image on both monitors. If your computer has a second output like a second hdmi, vga or dmi port. you can try hooking up the second monitor to that to get your second display. There are usb to hdmi listed but I have never tried them.

If you are just recording audio the hdmi will send the output audio regardless of where the player is on the extended screens so you shouldn't be worried about 3rd screen video output . You can always clone the display of the 3 screens so to be sure what is going on on 3rd screen if that becomes eminent .

WEBAug 9, 2017 · I had 2 monitors where the screen worked independently of each other. For the new Dell, I had to buy a new y splitter. I hook it up to the VGA port and plug each monitor into the y split, like before. Each monitor does get a signal but it shows the same thing on each monitor. It doesn't allow me to select Monitor 1 and Monitor 2.

And especially with a passive splitter which is likely what you have. I run three displays on my desktop, DVI, DVI, HDMI.

So I pull one of the monitors off of the splitter and plug it in to the old vga port. Nothing. I then turn off the pc and turn on again.

WEBSep 7, 2016 · I run 3 monitors, all are DVI. My video card has 2 DVI and one mini HDMI. I use a Mini to normal HDMI cable plugged into an HDMI to DVI adapter for one of my monitors. Normally there is no sound from DVI, but on video cards that also have HDMI, it will sometimes work. They send an HDMI signal out over the DVI port or something?
