Implantable cardiac monitors (also referred to as ICM) are small devices that are inserted under the skin of a patient to continuously monitor the patient’s electrocardiogram (ECG). The idea with Implantable Cardiac monitors is to provide a more convenient way to analyze the heart rhythm for a longer period lasting up to 36 months.

An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) is a small battery-powered device placed in the chest. It detects and stops irregular heartbeats, also called arrhythmias. An ICD continuously checks the heartbeat. It delivers electric shocks, when needed, to restore a regular heart rhythm.
