We ask that families with dogs please sit in the open cars as they offer additional space for our four-legged friends. Only service animals are allowed on Dinner Trains and special excursions."

When we went this Spring, we bought round trip tickets. The one way was about 35 minutes, then a 20 minute break. For just an extra fee you can ride up with the engineer, (one way to make it more affordable) if that’s an interest. My hubby rode up in the cab with them on the way back.
