We walked in the park after going out to eat in the area. It’s a nice park overlooking the water. The path is paved and the park is clean. Full review by dvkremk

Amazing park situated on the Harbor Walk in Punta Gorda. Pickle ball court, children's playground, and shelter houses. Very beautiful area, right on Charlotte Harbor. Highly recommend. Full review by keenie2015

If you are referring to us 41, I know you can drive. I believe there are paths both ways. That would be a long walk. I think I recall passing joggers on that route.

There is no public swimming pool. In theory you could swim in the river but nobody does because anywhere in Florida where there is water, there is a risk of alligators and you really don't want to swim with the locals do you? You're obviously from somewhere other than Florida so a tourist to Florida. Your hotel or holiday accommodation will almost certainly have a pool and that will provide a safe swimming environment. Gilchrist Park and the rest of Punta Gorda has lots of other things to do, so long as you're not expecting Disneyland. Punta Gorda is the opposite of a theme park and you go there because you don't want that kind of environment.

No but at one end of the park is a boat club with berths (I do not know what they charge) and at the other end is a hotel that has a few places to tie up. Just a short ways farther down just beyond the end of the parks toward Charlotte Harbor is Fisherman's Village and there is a marina and there are a few places to tie up outside of Harpoon Harry's. The other direction, between the north and southbound Tamiami Trail bridges is the Sheraton Hotel and Tiki Bar. Haven't been there but they should have a few places to tie up.
