It is an incredible experience to see a volcano. Chances are that it will not be erupting when you are visiting but you will how much it has done to the landscape. You will see steam venting as well …Full review by Arnold C

I was told once it erupts, coming late afternoon/evening one can see glowing lava as shown in many pictures. Even without it - worth the visit.Full review by WanderingTurk

NO, there are walls at the Jaggar Museum. Of course you will be there as well..Some areas need constant supervision.

We went on a tour but I would check Google map and see if I could rent a car to get there.

Hello, I see you are from Berlin. The medal in my picture is from the Berlin Marathon. We did not use public transportation when we were at Kilauea. The park website refers you to Hele-On Bus which has limited routes and times from Hilo. Once you get to the park, however, there is no public transportation within the park. I strongly suggest renting a car for the day.
