The FBI opened an investigation into a man that claimed his laptop was a bomb in the middle of a flight, forcing an emergency landing.

An Allegiant Air passenger faces charges for allegedly claiming his laptop was a bomb, causing an emergency landing. The flight, bound for Roanoke from St. Pete-Clearwater, returned to its origin after other passengers reported the threat. No bomb was found, and the flight eventually continued to its destination after a five-hour delay.

The FBI said the passenger is being charged with making a false bomb threat, a federal offense punishable by up to five years in prison, a $25,000 fine, or both.
