Beaches in a number of East Coast states were closed off to the public after medical waste including needles washed ashore. While beaches remain closed in Maryland and Virginia, swimming bans have been lifted Delaware.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has issued a one-week recreational water advisory for nearly all Atlantic Ocean beaches in Delaware, two days after medical waste started washing ashore.
