Microsoft Corp. will invest an additional 5.4 billion rand ($297 million) in South Africa by the end of 2027 to expand its cloud and artificial intelligence capacity in the country.

Tech giant Microsoft will invest $298 million on artificial intelligence (AI) and data centre infrastructure in South Africa, the company's vice-chair said Thursday. The multinational announced in January it would provide one million South Africans with AI and cyber security training opportunities by 2026.

Microsoft will invest an additional 5.4 billion rand ($296.81 million) in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in South Africa, Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith said on Thursday.

Microsoft will invest $295 million over the next two years in South Africa on AI and cloud infrastructure, and will train 1 million youngsters.
