Ireland responded to their defeat against New Zealand in game one of the Autumn Nations Series by defeating Argentina 22-19 last week but it was not a convincing performance by any stretch.

Gus McCarthy claimed a debut try and Mack Hansen touched down twice as Ireland set aside their unconvincing start to the autumn to ease to victory over Fiji in Dublin.

Ireland produced a flair-filled performance after two under-par displays to trounce Fiji 52-17 in their one-off rugby Test at Lansdowne Road on Saturday for their first back-to-back wins since February.

THIS WAS SEEN as possibly being the strongest Fiji team ever to visit Dublin and while Mick Byrne’s men will be disappointed with their indisciplined performance, Andy Farrell’s Ireland didn’t give them much scope to shine.
