It is a new index launched by BSE subsidiary Asia Index Private. The weightages of stocks in the index are capped at 5 per cent to lower index concentration. The index has a base value of 1000, and the first value date is 30th May 2014.

In case Zomato and Jio Financial do get included in the Nifty next year, Nuvama expects the exclusion of stocks like BPCL and Eicher Motors from the index. If that happens, Eicher could see outflows worth $263 million and $246 million for BPCL.

If added to Nifty, Zomato is expected to see $661 million in passive flows. Jio Financial, on the other hand, is expected to attract $403 million inflows.

Zomato will join the BSE Sensex on December 23, 2024, replacing JSW Steel, following a major reconstitution announced by Asia Index. The reshuffle also includes Zomato, Jio Financial Services, and Hindustan Aeronautics in BSE Sensex 50.

Shares of Jio Financial Services have fallen 1.62% in the last five trading sessions. It has erased more than 7% of investors’ wealth in the last one month.
