The Reds traded Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer to the Royals in exchange for starting pitcher Brady Singer on Friday night. India won the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2021 and had become a fan favorite during his four seasons with the club.

India and Singer were college teammates at the University of Florida from 2016-18 and they won the College World Series together in 2017. They were both first-round picks in 2018 as well. The Reds selected India with the No. 3 pick. The Royals took Singer with the No. 18 selection. Now they've been traded for one another.

The Reds are content with their half of this trade, of course. Both players are under team control for two more seasons. India will almost certainly make a bit less than Singer, who is arbitration eligible once more.
