This story and will be updated. Independent U.S. Sen. Angus King declared victory Wednesday, pre-empting an official call by The Associated Press, in a crowded race that appeared poised to deliver a third term for the former Maine governor.

Independent Angus King has officially been declared the winner of Maine’s Senate race. The Associated Press officially called the race on Thursday around 10:15 a.m. King already declared his victory on Wednesday afternoon.
