The fate of Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif remains a mystery despite Israel’s assertion that he was killed in a July strike in southern Gaza. Dead or alive, the elusive 59-year-old has now become the target of an arrest warrant issued by the International Court of Justice (ICC),

Judges at the International Criminal Court have issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defence chief Yoav Gallant, as well as a Hamas leader, Ibrahim Al-Masri - commonly known as Mohammed Deif - for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The court said there is probable cause that Deif is responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity, including taking hostages, rape, and extermination.
