A decadelong conflict over North Wildwood's beaches involving tens of millions of dollars in litigation and fines could end soon.

The North Wildwood City Council voted to accept a settlement with the state’s Department of Environmental Protection over the condition of its beaches and sand dunes that involved over $40 million worth of fines and litigation.

The new legal settlement "puts us in the right direction towards working cooperatively on shore protection measures," the mayor said.
