HONG KONG (Reuters) - Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told graduates and academics that "the age of AI has started" in a speech on Saturday, after receiving an honorary doctorate degree in engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the importance of the AI revolution in a recent interview and tried to minimized concerns that AI could take 100% of jobs.

Nvidia's stock slid on Wednesday despite issuing an optimistic sales forecast for the AI giant's fourth quarter amid the ongoing surge in demand for chips that enable generative AI.

Expectations ran high ahead of the results, with Nvidia shares up more than 20% over the last two months and hitting an intraday record high on Monday. The stock has nearly tripled so far this year and is up more than ninefold over the last two years, giving it a market value of $3.6 trillion.

The company, which dominates the market for chips used to build artificial intelligence, expects another big jump in the current quarter.
