While the Spurs have started the season strong, a number of injuries might give the Rockets a solid advantage over San Antonio.
Fox has been struggling with a hamstring injury since the summer, and had missed all of the 5-2 Spurs' prior regular season contests. His return is well-timed, as rookie point guard Dylan Harper incurred a hamstring strain earlier this week and is expected to be on the shelf for several weeks.
Fox has been rehabbing from an offseason hamstring injury. Now he'll play his hometown team in the New Orleans Pelicans as he begins his 2025-26 campaign.
Alperen Şengün and the Rockets will try to keep their win streak alive in a game against Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs on Friday in San Antonio.
The Spurs are staying home in San Antonio after voters approve $311 million for a new arena, with construction plans and private investment set to transform downtown.
San Antonio voters clear the way for $1.5-billion downtown transformation, putting the NBA's San Antonio Spurs at the center of the city’s next chapter.
Some of this could be solved with better shooting. As of this writing, the Spurs are shooting 14 of 43 (32.6%) from 3 off Wembanyama’s passes. Harrison Barnes and Julian Champagnie are notably shooting a combined 3 of 14 (21.4%) on those looks — that should bounce back in a major way as the sample grows.
