Crews stopped the forward progress of a brush fire that triggered evacuations in Carlsbad on Thursday, officials said.

A fast-moving brush fire in a North County canyon Thursday prompted evacuation orders before crews fighting the flames gained the upper hand.

Carlsbad police said on social media platform X that crews were responding to a fire in the area of Camino Minero, near Corte Claro and Paseo Encino. The area is not far from Rancho Santa Fe Road, close to the city’s border with San Marcos. Police asked that people avoid the area.
