He also told PEOPLE that fans can expect "a resolution to the whole Jancy Stancy controversy/triangle" in the final season. He was true to his word. In Volume 2, Nancy ( Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan ( Charlie Heaton) broke up, though Nancy did not choose to be with Steve ( Joe Keery) instead.

The show’s score has plummeted in the wake of the release of the second batch of episodes from season five, falling to a series-low 57 percent. The show has also received plenty of blowback on social media since the Vol. 2 episodes were released on Christmas Day.
