The opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar series in Perth has been a captivating affair, with India seizing control on Day 2 thanks to a record-breaking opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul.

India's Yashasvi Jaiswal and Australia's Marnus Labuschagne shared a light-hearted moment on Day 2 of the Perth Test, adding humour to an intense day when the India openers put on a stellar partnership and gave India a strong 218-run lead.

The opening match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy saw Team India exert dominance as they tame Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth. After bundling Australia at 104, the Men in Blue continued their lead in their innings as Team India openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal looked in form against the Australian bowling arsenal.

Yashasvi Jaiswal dominated the proceedings on Day 2 of the Perth Test with his unbeaten 90 to help India take a sizeable lead.

Yashasvi Jaiswal created history for India and broke a 16-year-old record held by Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir is the present head coach of Team India. Yashasvi had a dream run on the second day and he remained unbeaten on 90.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his 34th six of the year during the Perth Test, surpassing Brendon McCullum's record for the most sixes in a calendar year in Test cricket. His partnership with KL Rahul helped India reach 172/0,

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal thumped the Australian bowlers on Day 2 of the opening Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia which is being played at the Optus Stadium in Perth, on November 23.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul ended day 2 with an unbeaten stand of 172 for the opening wicket at Perth. This is the first time that an opening pair from India has slammed a century partnership in Perth (including Tests played both at WACA and Optus Stadium).

Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India control in the Perth Test with a composed fifty on Saturday, November 23. Jaiswal got to his fifty in 123 balls as the southpaw made amends for his 1st innings failure.
