Many businesses in the Stark County area are participating. In downtown Canton, there will be a "Small Business Saturday Extravaganza" at the 4th Street Collective, 328 Walnut Ave. NE, where owners are invited to set up tables and represent their businesses. The event kicks off at 2 p.m. and will wrap up at 5 p.m.
What is Small Business Saturday?
According to the American Express website, Small Business Saturday was started by the financial company in 2010. The first Small Business Saturday was Nov. 27 of that year. In 2011, the U.S. Senate unanimously made the day official. The day celebrates small businesses and encourages supporting them and how they impact communities.
