One of baseball's most intriguing free agents remains unsigned this offseason: longtime Toronto Blue Jays infielder Bo Bichette. Bichette's stock couldn't be a
According to journalist Francys Romero, author of the Beisbol FR newsletter, the Blue Jays are projected to pay Caricote a bonus of $1.8 million. Baseball America estimates that Caricote will receive the second-highest bonus of any catcher in the 2026 IFA class.
One might recall that a few days ago, the Blue Jays signed third baseman Kazuma Okamoto out of Japan. The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a contract with Japanese third baseman Kazuma Okamoto, reports ESPN. The deal is for four years and $60 million, according to the New York Post. Okamoto, 29, has spent the first 11 years of his professional career with Tokyo's Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball, the top league in Japan.
The Blue Jays also remain in talks with infielder Alex Bregman, but they could just be trying to drive up the price for the Boston Red Sox, who remain the heavy favorites to bring him back. The Chicago Cubs also are in talks with Bregman, and could slide third baseman Matt Shaw to second base and make veteran Nico Hoerner available in trades.
