The deal to halt Israel’s war against Hezbollah in Lebanon, a victory for negotiators after weeks of intense talks, went into effect Wednesday morning.

India welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The agreement was brokered by the US. President Biden spoke with both nations' leaders. They accepted the US proposal. India's External Affairs Ministry stated its support for de-escalation.

With a deal to end more than a year of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the president turns his attention back to stopping the war in Gaza before leaving office.
