In 2017 and 2019 Lake Ontario reached record levels and led to the creation of new state efforts to support communities along the Lake and the St. Lawrence River to better prepare for future flooding.

Producing detailed maps of Great Lakes recreational use required imaginative approaches, said project co-leader Sigrid Smith of the U-M School of Natural Resources and Environment.

The new Lake Wissota map will be officially unveiled in a ceremony from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21 at the Leinie Lodge, with a brief program at 5:30 p.m.
