The number of irregular border crossings into the European Union saw a significant decline of 38% in 2024, according to the EU's border agency Frontex. Preliminary data reveals that just over 239,000 irregular crossings were detected, marking the lowest level since 2021, when migration patterns were still impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
