Columbia built the first leg of the Vista Greenway in 2012, starting at the Lincoln Street tunnel running under Lady Street, and ending at Finlay Park. In 2016, it was extended to Elmwood Avenue.

The new riverfront park is an entirely different venture from the city’s redevelopment of downtown’s Finlay Park, which had previously been called the city’s “crown-jewel” public park.

The Walk for Life will now be held Jan. 9 at Finlay Park. The Palmetto Health Foundation made the announcement on social media Wednesday. The event raises money in the fight against breast cancer.
