Pete Rose, the Cincinnati native who became baseball's all-time hits leader and one of the most divisive figures in the sport's history, died Monday. His agent, Ryan Fiterman, confirmed the news. Rose was 83.

A Nevada coroner said Tuesday Pete Rose died of natural causes. Melanie Rouse, coroner for the Clark County Office of the coroner/medical examiner, said in a statement the office determined his cause of death was hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The manner of death was natural.
