October 9th update: Google has responded to Amazon’s Prime Day sale with its own discounts. The Pixel 8a has been discounted by $50, bringing it down to $449. There are also enhanced trade-in prices, which includes $135 for the Pixel 6a and a maximum value of $400 if the Pixel 7 Pro is handed over. Obviously this wouldn’t be a good trade to make.

At $459 instead of $999, the Pixel 7 Pro offers exceptional value especially when compared to its successor, the Pixel 9 Pro, which commands a hefty $1199 for the same 256GB storage capacity. This price difference makes the Pixel 7 Pro a very attractive option for those who want premium features without the premium price tag.

Google's latest Pixel 9 phones launched just weeks ago in late August. I've spent time using every mainline Pixel phone released to date, and the Pixel 9 series is the best yet — but their collective edge over the previous-gen Pixel 8 series is pretty slim.
