The Portland City Council on Wednesday failed to elect a council president for 2026, after eight hours of at times heated discussion and nine rounds of voting.
The annual event, organized by the nonprofit The Street Trust, offered a modest crowd of about 20 riders a chance to see some of the city’s newest cycling-friendly infrastructure, including the new Southwest Fourth Avenue bike lane as well as a pedestrian passage that tunnels beneath the Portland Art Museum.
