A Presidents Day protest drew more than 1,000 people to downtown Portland, in one of the city’s largest demonstrations to date of the second Trump era, leaving police briefly scrambling to contain the crowd as it grew during a march across the Morrison and Hawthorne bridges.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A group of protesters gathered at Portland City Hall on Monday. The demonstration is part of a national Presidents’ Day protest against recent federal layoffs, funding cuts, and other policies implemented by President Donald Trump's administration in the first few weeks of his second term.
