Some parts of the country could see up to 20 inches of rainfall this weekend, causing catastrophic flooding, forecasters warned.

Flash flood warnings have been issued for part of North Texas, as heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the area Saturday morning. The warnings are in effect for Collin, Dallas, Denton, Lamar, Tarrant and Rockwall counties until 8:30 a.

On Saturday at 6:51 a.m. an updated flash flood warning was released by the NWS Fort Worth TX in effect until 8:30 a.m. The warning is for Collin, Denton and Rockwall counties.

Significant severe weather and life-threatening flash flooding continue to impact much of the mid-South up through the Ohio River Valley.

The rising water levels have prompted rescues and road closures. The storm, which has already wreaked havoc across the South and the Midwest, doesn’t show signs of letting up.

Texarkana Police ask that people do not try crossing flooded roadways after having to rescue several people from stalled vehicles in flooding conditions.

Round after round of heavy rains have pounded the central U.S., leading to rapidly rising waterways and prompting a series of flash flood emergencies.

Another round of torrential rain and flash flooding came Saturday for parts of the South and Midwest already heavily waterlogged by days of severe storms that also spawned deadly tornadoes. Forecasters warned that rivers in some places would continue to rise for days.
