Whitens retired from Ford in 2018. He is now an adviser at the self-titled consulting firm Michael Whitens LLC, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has been an SPE member since 2000.

In Whitens career, Powers North Central basketball finished with a 108-1 record, and hold the nation's longest active winning streak at 83 games, and have won three consecutive Class D state titles.

Jason Whitens is a coach’s son, and it shows. His father, Gerald Whitens, coached Powers North Central from 2002-05 before turning over the reins to Adam Mercier, who remains head coach.
