Marburg has been termed the 'bleeding eye' virus because one of its symptoms has already claimed over 15 lives in Rwanda. It is also thought to have infected hundreds more.

The bleeding eye virus or the Marburg disease has killed 15 people so far in Rwanda. This highly infectious pathogen is similar to the Ebola virus and causes bleeding from eyes, nose and mouth.
