The USC Trojans (6-2) host the Northwestern Wildcats (5-3) in a Big Ten Conference matchup in Los Angeles on Friday night.

The College Football Playoff selection committee released its first rankings on Tuesday night. Defending champion Ohio State took the top spot, ahead of fellow Big Ten foe Indiana. Both were followed by a quartet of SEC teams — Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss.
