Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made history at the IPL 2025 auction, securing a massive INR 27 crore deal with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), making him the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Known for his explosive batting, Rishabh Pant created history by becoming the most expensive player in IPL history. After parting ways with Delhi Capitals, Pant was snapped up by the Lucknow Super Giants for a record Rs 27 crore. Speculation is rife that the left-hander might take over as LSG's captain.

"Goodbyes are never easy...,' Pant wrote on Instagram. Talking about his nine-year-long journey with the Delhi franchise, Pant admitted he grew in several ways while playing there.

A total of 182 players were sold across two days, for a whopping ₹639.15 crore. Rishabh Pant of LSG, emerged as most expensive buy at ₹27 crores. Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest cricketer to get an IPL contract at 13 years.

Pant was the subject of a bidding war between the Lucknow Super Giants and his former side, the Delhi Capitals

The IPL auction witnessed some eyebrow-raising bids. Veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar, despite being out of the Indian team for two years, became the second day's most expensive buy at ₹10.75 crore, joining Royal Challengers Bangalore.
