On Nov. 24, the St. Louis Blues hired former Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery. This was following the firing of head coach Drew Bannister when the team had a disappointing record of 3-6-1 in their last 10 games.

The Blues have one of the least productive offenses in the NHL, but Montgomery believes there's enough talent to turn it around.

St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong called Montgomery soon after he was fired by the Boston Bruins on Nov. 19, laid out a plan, told the coach why he had to be a part of it, offered a five-year contract and that was pretty much that.

Just five days after the Bruins fired Montgomery, the St. Louis Blues announced that they’ve hired him as their next head coach. The Blues relieved Drew Bannister of his duties and signed Montgomery to a five-year contract to become the 28th coach in franchise history.

In his two-plus seasons in Boston, Montgomery went 120-41-23 in the regular season and 9-11 in the postseason.

Jim Montgomery was hired as coach of the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. The 55-year-old replaces Drew Bannister, who was fired. Montgomery signed a five-year contract with the Blues just five days after he was fired as Boston Bruins coach.

The Boston Bruins are 2-1 after Joe Sacco replaced Jim Montgomery behind the bench, and they aren't done making moves.
