The Met Office has issued a new double weather warning covering the whole of Lancashire with forecasters saying there is a 'danger to life'. Strong winds and heavy rain are set to cause travel disruption over the next few days and could lead to flooding and power cuts.

Preston and Lancashire is set for a wild 48-hour period from Thursday as the Met Office has two weather warnings in place. A yellow weather warning is in force for strong winds during Thursday (5 December) afternoon and overnight into Friday.

A further warning for heavy rain and wind in the region will follow from 3pm on Friday to 6am on Sunday. The warning is in place for the whole of Lancashire, as well as Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, West Yorkshire and parts of Cumbria and North Wales.
