Lauren Betts is The Associated Press women's college basketball player of the week. The UCLA center averaged 27.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and six blocks to help top-ranked UCLA beat Baylor, Rutgers and Maryland last week.

The Terps suffered their third straight loss, all to ranked teams, in an 82-67 defeat to the Bruins, who got 33 points from Betts.

During UCLA’s center Lauren Betts’ media availability on Wednesday, the junior was asked about her season thus far. 20 games in, Betts has led the Bruins to an undefeated record and has placed herself firmly in the mix for National Player of the Year consideration.
