In the two days and 10 hours that it rained on Staten Island, the Advance/SILive.com weather station reports that the borough received 1.81 inches of rain. The total rainfall tally for November, so far, is now 1.95 inches.

Amid an unprecedented uptick in brush fires and a drought warning, it's raining in New York City for the first time in weeks.

New York City is set to get 1 to 2 inches of rain late Wednesday into Thursday—the first significant rainfall the city has seen since late September—as the area continues to deal with a “severe” drought and widespread wildfires.

New York City has received just over an inch of rain, not nearly enough to end the drought but definitely helpful, a winter storm hits our region, dropping potentially as much as a foot of snow in areas of upstate New York and parts of the southern tier.

New York City declared its first drought warning in over 20 years. Most of the area is in severe or extreme drought.

Heavy rain and snow is expected across the tri-state area on Thursday, a day after City officials declared the fist drought warning in over two decades.

While an inch of rain is expected to fall by the end of Friday, meteorologists say it still won’t be enough to undo the region’s drought conditions.
