Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Purdy and the 49ers are "inching closer" to working out a long-term deal that will make him one of the 10 highest-paid players in the NFL by average annual salary.

The San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy appear to be at an impasse in their contract discussions. While Purdy wants a deal similar to the one Dak Prescott got from the Dallas Cowboys, John Lynch and the 49ers do not seem inclined to give it to him.

“The San Francisco 49ers and Brock Purdy are inching closer to a long-term extension, according to sources close to the situation. The contract is expected to include an average annual value that ranks in the top 10 in the NFL (and at Purdy’s position),” Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported.
