The Huskies (8-4) wrested control of the game in the second half and beat UMass, 47-42, before 10,365 at McGuirk Alumni Stadium on Saturday to pad their bowl resume with their eighth win, the most by the football program since the Big East championship and Fiesta Bowl year of 2010.

The UConn football team won its eighth game, the most since 2010, as QB Joe Fagnano and running back Cam Edwards led the Huskies over UMass.

Oh, so close.That has certainly been the theme for this year’s UMass football team. And it was again, one final time on Saturday afternoon at McGuirk Alumni Stadium as the Minutemen fell 47-42 to UConn – which played spoiler to UMass’
