There’s no such thing as a perfect game in hockey, but the Caps took some strides in the right direction with their 3-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night at Capital One Arena. Logan Thompson stopped all 19 shots sent his way to notch his first shutout of the season and the fifth of his NHL career.
After struggling to build and sustain momentum at 5-on-5, the Capitals came out last night and put up a solid, complete effort in a 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks, handing them their second shutout loss in three games in the process.
Thompson recorded his first shutout of the season and now stands at 19-2-3 through just 24 starts in his inaugural campaign with the Capitals. Only an evenly-split workload with Charlie Lindgren (upper body) has hindered Thompson's breakout, but Thompson is expected to get the bulk of the starts with the latter now on the injured list.
