Chemist and pharmacy chain Boots has revealed almost 300 UK store closures, with more to shut within weeks. Boots have been a pillar of British life since opening their doors in Nottingham in 1849.

Boots announced last year that it plans to close around 300 stores in the UK after a "difficult" year of sales and profits.

Boots is in the middle of closing 300 sites and has now revealed that 290 of these branches have shut their doors for good - with the remaining ten stores expected to shut by the end of October

The full list of '290' Boots closures includes stores all across the UK. It comes as Walgreens Boots Alliance, the parent company of Boots UK, declared it was seeking to save £618 million
