Kansas has become the latest state to ban gender-affirming care for minors. The Republican-controlled Legislature voted Tuesday to override Democratic Gov.

Banning puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries has been a Republican priority for years, but they got enough support to overturn a veto.

Physicians currently administering gender-affirming care to minors will have until Dec. 31 to cease treatment or risk losing their medical licenses.

The bill, known as the 'Help Not Harm Act,' would have prevented state funds from being used to 'promote gender transitioning.'
