There have been a lot of Edmonton Oilers games over the years in which they’ve trailed 3-0 in the first period — 102, to be exact. Those games have rarely gone well for the team in the past, and understandably so.

Evan Bouchard's goal late in the 3rd period capped off an incredible rally for Edmonton, who trailed the Avalanche 3-0 in the 1st period.

As the homestand continues, the Colorado Avalanche welcomed the Edmonton Oilers and the fans were hoping for some offensive fireworks on national TV. Goals by Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid fit the bill but after a fast start the Avalanche couldn’t find the back of the net again and fell 4-3 on a late third period Oilers goal.
