Clearly it's important to him, and the Mets themselves leaned into it at his introductory p press conference. There was just one tiny hiccup: The No. 22 was already occupied in Queens, by infielder and former top prospect Brett Baty.

Baty was rewarded by Juan Soto for giving up No. 22 on Thursday morning, when the star outfielder surprised him with a brand new Chevy Tahoe in front of the entire team at Clover Park.

Juan Soto found out that the SUV was "the car of [Baty's] dreams" via a totally normal, not-at-all-planted conversation on the topic that included Baty and traveling secretary Edgar Suero.
