A New York man was arrested at the JFK International Airport as he prepared to board a flight to Qatar to join ISIS, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.

A U.S. citizen and resident of New York is charged with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham after his arrest on Tuesday.

The FBI thwarted a New York man's plan to travel to Syria to join ISIS and wage jihad on the terrorist organization's behalf, the Department of Justice announced.
