The first day of NHL free agency is here, and it is going to be a big day in the league. While several of this year's top pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs) have re-signed with their clubs, there are still some interesting names hitting the market who the Boston Bruins could consider targeting.

Barring Marchand opting for comfort over cash and taking a below-market deal, it seems unlikely that the Bruins will reel in their former star.

The Boston Bruins have locked Morgan Geekie into a long-term deal ahead of his free agency. Geekie agreed to a six-year, $33 million deal with the Bruins on Sunday, the franchise announced. Geekie will now be contractually tied to Boston until 2031 after bouncing around to a few teams to start his career.

Elmira’s most decorated professional hockey player is coming back to Boston. Monday, the Boston Bruins franchise announced that Elmira native John Beecher has re-signed with the team at forward. The deal is secured as a one-year NHL contract through the 2025-26 season with a cap hit of $900K.

The Boston Bruins continue to stay busy leading up to free agency. On Monday, general manager Don Sweeney announced the team has re-signed defenseman Henri Jokiharju, forward Johnny Beecher and Michael DiPietro to contract extensions.
