Playing up a man for more than half couldn't help Everton get on the board, instead leading Brentford to a first clean sheet of the Premier League season in a scoreless draw at Goodison Park.

LIVERPOOL, England (Reuters) -Ten-man Brentford picked up a first away point of the Premier League season in a 0-0 draw with toothless Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, as the home side wasted numerous opportunities to score.

The Bees centre-back was sent off following VAR intervention after catching goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on his knee as he slid in attempting to break the deadlock late in the first half. Referee Chris Kavanagh did not issue a yellow card or award a foul but was advised to view the pitchside monitor and opted to dismiss the Denmark international.

The Toffees appear to have corrected their early season leaky defence, but the goals do seem to have dried up on the attacking end as well. Everton have scored just twice in their last five Premier League games, and their (lack of) creativity has been quite obvious as well.
