Josef Newgarden was still utterly dominant and Team Penske finally flexed its muscles on Saturday at Iowa Speedway. But when it counted most, it was a different driver and team that broke through for their first win of 2025.

Heavy rain caused flooding issues in Ames and rotation was observed in clouds around the Iowa Speedway in Newton as the area was under a tornado warning. All watches and warnings have expired for central Iowa, but major flooding continues in some eastern Iowa communities after heavy rain and possible tornadoes.

After severe weather and heavy rain on Thursday, more storms are headed for Iowa on Friday afternoon prompting a tornado watch and flood watch.
