Michigan State’s top TE in ‘good spirits’ after violent hit sends him to hospital
Velling was injured on Michigan State’s opening possession of the game, one play after having an 11-yard catch. Quarterback Aidan Chiles threw in his direction as Purdue defensive back Dillon Thieneman delivered a huge hit to the midsection right as the ball arrived. The pass fell incomplete and Velling rolled around on the grass in obvious pain.
